GEW North Texas is part of a concerted effort by GEN Global to have events focused on entrepreneurship one week a year around the globe.
Each November, Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW) reaches millions of people of all ages and backgrounds through local, national and global events and activities.
During the week each November, speakers, panels, competitions, showcases and networking make up the thousands of events held around the world. The goal is to inspire millions to engage in entrepreneurial activity while connecting them to potential collaborators, mentors and even investors.
Around the globe, 180 countries participate in GEW every year, which results in about 35,000 events that include over 10 million people. In the United States alone, nearly 5,000 events, activities and competitions are planned across all 50 states by a wide variety of organizations.
In 2018 a group of like minded startup ecosystem builders in Fort Worth hatched a plan to capitalize on momentum gained from a few small events organized over the previous year.
They chose to use the Global Entrepreneurship Week platform as the catalyst for the Fort Worth startup community for the coming years.
In past years, during this week around 45+ individual session organizers have worked to host over 130+ individual sessions all orientated towards entrepreneurs, those interested in entrepreneurship and those that support entrepreneurs.
GEW is volunteer based project, organized by a diverse set of community stakeholders from different parts of the startup community.
The unique value of Global Entrepreneurship Week is ANYONE that wants to showcase entrepreneurship can host a session during this week.
Over the past 4 years, the community Stakeholders of Fort Worth have worked hard to establish one of the largest week-long Entrepreneur focused events across the world. Because of their efforts, GEW Fort Worth ranked number 1 in events hosted by GEN Global, the parent organization for Global Entrepreneurship Week across the world, 2 years in a row.
Through their quest to make GEW Fort Worth a signature event in the North Texas community, they worked with neighboring cities such as Dallas, Arlington, North Richland Hills and Denton to give Entrepreneurs within these communities the opportunity to be a part of this historical endeavor. This outreach resulted in record-breaking outcomes for inclusion during the COVID pandemic and beyond.
In 2020 GEW Fort Worth was the largest in the United States.
